The Federal Inland Income Service (FIRS) has defined that its statutory position was purely the gathering of income for presidency and never conserving information of how the monies have been spent.
This was in response to queries by the Particular Adhoc Committee of the Home of Representatives on Petroleum Subsidy Regime, mandated to research petroleum merchandise subsidy in Nigeria from 2013.
Making presentation throughout the resumed sitting, of the committee on Thursday, Government Chairman of FIRS, Muhammad Nami, who was represented by the Coordinating Director, Compliance Help Group, Dr. Dick Irri, famous that the position of the Service was confined to the evaluation of taxpayers, assortment of taxes, accounting for and enforcement of taxes that have been as a result of authorities of the Federation.
