Anambra State Police command, Sunday, introduced arrest of 5 individuals allegedly concerned in assault of its operatives in Awka, the state capital.
The command’s Public Relations Officer, DSP Tochukwu Ikenga, who disclosed this in a press release, famous that the six individuals attacked its operatives on the palace of Chief Augustine Ndigwe, who had scheduled New Yam pageant on Saturday.
However governor Chukwuma Soludo, in a press release signed by the Commissioner for Data, Mr Paul Nwosu, banned Ndigwe from parading himself as Awka monarch, describing it as a legal offence as offered on part 20 of the Conventional Rulers Regulation of Anambra State 2007.
The police, most likely following the order, had on the event staged a roadblock on the route resulting in the palace, as properly stopped Ndigwe from holding the brand new yam pageant he had scheduled to happen in his palace.
Ikenga mentioned, “Right this moment ( Sunday), we want to let the members of the general public know particularly Ndi Anambra that the deployment of police operatives yesterday ( Saturday) inside the residence of Augustine Ndigwe in Awka, was to ensure there is no such thing as a break down of regulation and order in Awka Neighborhood.
“One Mr Nwokoye that led the assault on cops is in custody with 5 others. The suspects have been transferred to State Felony investigations division for investigations. The scenario is being monitored and additional growth shall be communicated.”
