INEC passionate to conduct clear elections in 2023 – Outgoing Oyo REC

The Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC), in Oyo state, Barrister Mutiu Agboke, on Tuesday mentioned the fee has deployed all obtainable means to curb electoral malpractices within the 2023 normal elections.

Barrister Agboke acknowledged this in Ibadan throughout a valedictory media briefing held in his honour.

The REC identified that the fee is passionate to conduct free, honest and clear elections in 2023.

In accordance with Barrister Agboke, gone had been the times when hoodlums and thugs would disrupt elections and go away with it, including, “any hoodlum or thug who intends to disrupt elections can have himself or herself blamed.”

The REC whose five-year tenure as REC ends this immediately, maintained that any election performed in a polling unit and disrupted by hoodlums or thugs could be cancelled by the fee.

“Hoodlums and thugs haven’t any enterprise on the polling models. As a result of, in the event that they disrupt the election in a polling unit, that election will probably be cancelled by the INEC. And now, the election lead to a polling unit will probably be unloaded on the INEC web site”, he mentioned.

Barrister Agboke added, “so, if we conduct an election in a spot and the hoodlums hijacked it, that won’t have an effect on the sanctity of the election as a result of the outcome has been uploaded on the INEC web site”.

“Even earlier than we get to the collation centre, the election result’s already on the web site. So, any hoodlum or thug who wish to disrupt the election is waisting his time”.
