
Herdsmen Thursday night attacked Ukohol, a group in Guma native authorities space of Benue state, killing 18 residents.
The assault, Blueprint Weekend learnt, occurred round 4:00-5:00pm on a market day, the place 10 folks have been killed out there and eight others killed by the assailants whereas they have been retreating.
The chairman of the native authorities, Mike Uba, stated if safety had delayed arriving on the place, there would have been extra casualties.
He expressed fear that the herdsmen didn’t spare even kids of lower than two years, including that they’d been killing and occupying communities within the affected areas.
Based on him, the herders acted with none provocation from the group and that the assault was surprising.
He stated, “The herdsmen who have been all wearing black got here on a market day and killed a complete of 18 individuals. Safety males have been knowledgeable of the incident and had drafted their males to the place and the scenario is now calm. However the issue is that when the folks return, the assailants often return to assault.
“There was no provocation. They arrive and chase folks away and settle of their homes, eat their crops and even graze within the evening. About 10 council wards have been affected since 2018 until date.”
