Breaking: Makinde names new deputy governor, lawmakers endorse

Couple of minutes after impeaching Engr Rauf Olaniyan, because the deputy governor of Oyo State, the Home of Meeting on Monday authorized the nomination of the Chairman, Oyo State Housing Company, Barrister Adebayo Lawal, as new second man incharge of the state.

This adopted the nomination of Barrister Lawal to the Home by Governor Seyi Makinde as contained in a letter from the chief to the lawmakers which was introduced on Monday plenary.

Studying the letter, the Speaker Adebo Ogundoyin stated it was in response of an earlier letter despatched by the lawmaker to the governor dated July 18, 2022, informing him of the elimination of Olaniyan from workplace.

Talking on the nomination, the Home majority chief,  Hon. Sanjo Adedoyin, stated the nomination needs to be favourably thought-about, authorized and adopted in view of his antecedents in contributing to the progress of the state.

Hon Kazeem Olayanju of Irepo/ Olorunsogo state constituency seconded the movement that the home ought to verify Lawal as the brand new deputy governor of Oyo state.

The Speaker of the Home, Hon Ogundoyin put the nomination to a voice vote which went the methods of the “ayes”, saying with the vote, Lawal has been authorized because the deputy governor of the state.

The Home later adjourned until Thursday July 21, 2022.
